Taj Mahua Kothi, Bandhavgarh National Park
The land locked state of Madhya Pradesh is home to one third of India’s wild forest. Considered the last stronghold from many endangered species, the state is often regarded as offering some of India’s best wildlife experiences. As such the Taj Safaris have created a never-before-experienced Indian wildlife circuit, with luxury lodges, camps and resorts in Panna, Kanha, Bandhgarh and Pench. Replete with both adventure and - unlike more safari experience in India so far - impeccable service and lush luxury.
Nestled in the vicinity of the breathtaking Bandhavgarh National Park, Mahua Kothi sprawls over a 45-acre private forest, around the renowned erstwhile tented camp, Churhat Kothi right on the edge of the national park. Here the elegant 12 stand-alone lavish cottages of the lodge blend charmingly into the quaint and rustic surroundings providing unrivalled luxury and comfort in one of India's most remote wildlife regions.
A private courtyard, with its shaded seating, opens to each of the twelve luxury cottage suites, called Kutiyas. Rich textiles reflect the wonderful tribal art of the area and each cottage has a terracotta roof, traditional mud floor and stylish en-suite bathroom.
The central guest lodge overlooks a wonderful expanse of Savanah land, perfect to watch the exotic birdlife and listen to the call of the monkey from the deep verandas. The dining hall has a large cozy fireplace and communal dining table. Guests are also encouraged to visit the lodges private organic gardens to pick their very own ingredients.
The inviting pool is shaded by the mighty Mahua trees perfect for escaping the midday sun, between your safaris.
The Taj trained staff at the lodge provide personalized care and attention to all guests. Enjoy twice-daily safaris in state of the art 4x4 jeeps with the expert trained naturalists, with impeccable knowledge of every inhabitant of the forests, and every nook and pathway of the wilderness.
