Sher Garh, Kanha

Tucked away in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the most intimate properties in our wilderness portfolio, Sher Garh. This delightful family run camp, comprises of 6 tents along with a camp house, set in 20 acres of regenerated woodland located right in the heart of Kanha Tiger Reserve.
The family and local team have been welcoming guests from all over the world since 2004. The simple well-appointed canvassed interiors of the tents give way to spacious bathrooms with state of the art amenities and private verandas. With pretty white block printed cotton details and large comfortable beds providing a real comfortable retreat from the surrounding woodland that surrounds. Every detail has been lovingly thought out. From the 100% natural products stored in glass bottles to the fired earth tiles ensuring a natural and pleasant climate throughout the season to the strong showers and provided hairdryers and hot water bottles. Enjoy your private veranda offering wonderful bird watching during the days and star gazing by night.

The local in house chefs spend their days creating wonderful feasts for you to enjoy. From homemade muesli, cakes and breads that are served as breakfast on your early morning safari to the light and fresh salad lunches served on your return to the camp. You can choose to dine at the heart of the camp, at the main house on the Verandah, or under the shade of a large mango tree. Although most dinners are usually served together as a traditional Indian home cooked meal where you can share the tales of your days adventure.
Sher Garh has a very strong eco ethos ensuring the camp has a minimal impact on the local surrounding area. The natural year-round water reserve supplied by the two local springs gives it a picturesque setting as well as attracting an array of wonderful birds including kingfishers, cormorants and the seasonal breeding of hundreds of egrets.
There is free wifi, a laundry service and real filtered coffee not to mention some in-house mountain bikes for kids of every age. With its wonderful woodland location there are plenty of village trails to lead you on an adventure. Ask a resident naturalist to give you some good pointers along the way.
Safaris with Kanha Tiger Reserve take place twice a day other than Wednesday which is only in the afternoon. The drives are approximately five hours and begin at dawn. The afternoon drives commence at 3pm. Tickets are available up to 120 days prior and shouldn’t be missed. For nothing beats heading out into the wild forests of Kanha in an open top jeep with your naturalist there to open your eyes to your very own jungle book journey
