Sarai at Toria

This quaint property is located close to Khajuraho and the Panna Tiger Reserve amidst the un-spoilt countryside on the banks of Ken River. This rural retreat has a strong eco conscious and was created causing minimum disruption to the surrounding wildlife. So just sit back on your verandah and enjoy the local bird life, and wildlife meandering through the delightful countryside.

This elegant, stylish lodge really is a home from home, run by the enchanting Raghu and Joanna, both highly respected wildlife conservationists who will ensure your stay is one to remember.

The property comprises eight independent cottages, scattered throughout the grassland, each with their own verandas and private courtyard. With heavy stone walls these naturally air-conditioned large rooms are hugely inviting, finished with a loving, local homely feel in warm, neutral shades. The large dining room and lounge offer wonderful views over the river, and a perfect spot to watch the sun go down.

Dine al fresco and enjoy the fresh cooked meals which are most definitely a highlight, full of home grown produce served by the welcoming staff.  Wonder down to the main lodge where you will find the library, dining area and intimate lounge.  End the day catching up with the other guests with an evening around the inviting camp fire.

Enjoy a peaceful boat ride either, especially at dawn or dusk as the colours mellow and a gentle cruise provides a wonderful waterside safari.  There are many activities at the lodge from fishing on the pristine Ken river along with local nature walks, village excursions and expert interactive cookery demonstrations.

There is much to explore in the area including the temples of Khajuraho, wildlife of Panna Tiger reserve, dramatic waterfalls and the little visited Ajaygarh Fort that even pre-dates the Khajuraho temples.
