La Villa, Puducherry
Well located in the heart of the French Quarter, La Villa Puducherry is a delightful 19th Century Manor House that has been beautifully converted into a charming boutique, heritage hotel complete will all the mod cons. Re-imagined by two French architects La Villa’s colonial facades were extended, the rooms modernised with French and Indian designs and ideas seamlessly woven together.
Set around an internal courtyard and precious little garden the property spans over three floors. Each of the pretty, light filled six suites has a spacious bathroom and sit out or balcony. Unlike most of the dark wooden houses of the south here the rooms are bright and airy with white washed walls and polished concrete floors. There are large beds and subtle soft furnishes creating one of the most stylish boutique hotels in south India.
The restaurant is set in the gardens of the shady courtyard, under the arches and serves fresh local produce with a French twist. The atmospheric restaurant has a limited but well imagined menu changing daily. The breakfasts of freshly baked breads and delicious home-made jams can also be served in your room or by the pool side should you wish.
There is a small pool on the first floor and there are bicycles available at your disposal throughout your stay.
The hotel enjoys an excellent location close by to most of the attractions. Spend your days wondering the charming boulevards, shopping and visiting the white washed churches nearby. You are less than 550 yards from the famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram and close to the wonderful Goubert Market. There are lots of restaurants and cafes in walking distance should you like to dine out in the evenings.
The best way to access Puducherry is from Chennai international airport with is approximately 90 miles away. It works very well in a wider Tamil Nadu itinerary.
